Arjan Shehaj è nato nel 1989 a Patos, nell’albania sud-occidentale. Vive e lavora a Milano.
Nel 2012 ha conseguito la laurea triennale in pittura all’accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (con lode) e nel 2015 ha conseguito la laurea magistrale in quella stessa Accademia anche in questa con lode.
L’arte di Shehaj si concentra sull’elemento geometrico del linguaggio pittorico; per questa via egli cerca di raggiungere il concetto puro, riducendo il linguaggio artistico a segno. Il suo lavoro sembra limitato a poche linee e colori e diventa sempre più essenziale. Questa ricerca riguarda la percezione essenziale. I pochi colori che usa gli permettono di sperimentare su diversi materiali e tecniche varie. Shehaj non cerca di ricordare il fatto, ma la struttura della realtà. E se l’universo fosse olografico? La sua struttura sarebbe la stessa di quella della nostra percezione. Le linee si uniscono, si dividono, si espandono e poi si integrano, giocano e danno forma alle forme geometriche che vivono tra la dimensione irreale della superficie e l’estensione della vita reale, quindi l’obiettivo di puro e ‘assoluto’ sul tempo e nello spazio sensoriale. Il suo lavoro è antropometrico. L’uomo è tutto ciò che possiamo misurare.
Arjan Shehaj was born in 1989 in Patos, south-western Albania. He lives and works in Milan.
In 2012 he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in painting from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts (with distinction) and in 2015 he graduated with a Master's degree from the same Academy, also with distinction.
Shehaj's art focuses on the geometric element of pictorial language; by this route he seeks to achieve pure concept, reducing artistic language to a sign. His work seems limited to a few lines and colours and becomes increasingly essential. This quest is about essential perception. The few colours he uses allow him to experiment with various materials and techniques. Shehaj does not try to remember the fact, but the structure of reality. What if the universe were holographic? Its structure would be the same as that of our perception. The lines join, divide, expand and then integrate, play and give shape to geometric forms that live between the unreal dimension of the surface and the extension of real life, thus the goal of pure and 'absolute' over time and sensory space. His work is anthropometric. Man is everything we can measure.
